Felling of Diseased Larch Trees
Added at 16:30 on 19 October 2023
The felling of the diseased larch trees has started. The site has been issue with a Statutory Plant Heath Notice (SPHN) and forestry workers have to follow strict biosecurity guidance. This includes cleaning their boots and the wheels of vehicles before they leave the site. The disease, Phytophthora ramorum, attacks other species, particularly Rhododendrum ponticum. Walkers and mountain bikers are recommended to follow the same security measures as forest workers.
