Warm spaces in Helensburgh and Rhu

The Warm Welcome Campaign wants everyone in the UK to find a place of belonging and reconnection at a Warm Welcome Space near their home. Warm spaces are heated and are free to enter.

Fun First 

Fun First sessions provide warm spaces for under 5’s and their carers.

  • Mondays: Helensburgh Library 0-5 yrs 10am and Rosneath St Modan’s Church Hall 9:45am
  • Tuesdays: Cardross Library 0-5yrs 1:30pm and 10am outdoor sessions in Hermitage Park (bookable on Ticket source).
  • Wednesdays: Gibson Hall Garelochhead 10:00 am 0-5 yrs.
  • Thursdays: Fitness and Fun Victoria Halls 10am 18months-5 yrs.
  • Fridays: Helensburgh Community Hub 9:45am 0-5 yrs.
  • Wednesday mornings fortnightly: Fun First Friends at Drumfork Community Centre (held in the family room). Children can play in the soft play area, tea and coffee for adults. Plenty of time to chat and listen to local speakers from organisations/ support groups. Open to new families to Helensburgh, expectant parents, grandparents and so on.  

Children to be accompanied by an adult, parents, carers, grandparents, child minders all welcome.

Grey Matters Active Ageing

Grey Matters Active Ageing are keeping the older community in Helensburgh and Lomond warm and active this winter.
They have a ‘Warm Welcome’ coffee morning on a Tuesday at 10.30 and a Friday evening Takeaway meal both offering warm drinks/food and even warmer company. 

They also have over 10 interest groups to tap into during the week and are adding to them all the time including more evening and weekend activities too.

Meeting Place: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10.30 – 12.00. Tea/coffee and home baking – free, cash donations welcome. 

Church service on Wednesdays, 12.30pm – a short service (30-40 minutes) followed by soup, tea/coffee.  Free, cash donations welcome.

Anytime the building is open, there is a space (Meeting Place) with help yourself tea/coffee/hot water (free, cash donation welcome). 

No under 18’s without a responsible adult.

Rhu & Shandon Parish Church 
Gareloch Road, Rhu, Helensburgh

Knit and natter is on Tuesdays at 2 – 4pm.

There is no requirement to knit!

Drumfork Community Centre
Churchill Square, Helensburgh

Open Tuesdays and Wednesdays in the community room from 6pm – 9pm

Open to the whole community. No expectations through attendance.  

Bethesda Centre
28 Colquhoun Street (on the corner of West King Street)

A warm welcome on a Tuesday 1.30 – 3pm

 

Helensburgh Baptist Church 
7 East King Street, Helensburgh

Open for soup, sandwiches, tea/coffee and cakes from 1pm to 3.30pm every Friday from start of November to end of February.

Closed on Friday 27th December and Friday 3rd January for the holidays.

Open to all in the community, accompanied children welcome.

Home Start Lomond

Located above the MOD Police station in Churchill Square, Helensburgh G84 9HL
The Family Hub – while the activities vary, offer morning and afternoon events. A warm welcome to anyone seeking a chat or a friendly cuppa!

Monday to Friday, with someone available in the office from 9am to 2.30pm.
