Rhu & Shandon Community Council

Supporting Communities Fund

Added on 16 November 2017

Formerly known as 3rd Sector Grants, this fund is open to Community Groups. Grants up to a maximum of £2500 can be awarded.

A website has been created specifically for the fund: www.abpb.co.uk, If you would like to apply to the fund, visit the website.

Groups are encouraged to post their ideas on the website for projects between now and 22 December 2017, to let their communities know what they would do with the money and how it would benefit the area.  The ideas website allows people to see the ideas being proposed, ask questions to find out more, offer suggestions to help shape the ideas and provide feedback to groups before they submit a funding application.

This year, applications will be decided by participatory budgeting. This means that officers will score applications and recommend a list to councillors who will agree which projects will go forward to a public vote. Members of the public will have the final say on which projects receive funding through a vote in April 2018.

The fund is split between the four Area Committee areas – Oban, Lorn and the Isles, Mid Argyll, Kintyre and the Islands, Helensburgh and Lomond, and Bute and Cowal.

See the  step by step guide to posting an idea. The Council’s Community Development Officers will be able to help anyone who needs support to post an idea or use the site.  The Community Development Team can be contacted by email: communitydevelopment@argyll-bute.gov.uk or by calling (01369 708669 or 01436 657647/ 657648).

You do not need to register on the website to view the ideas. Those who do register will be notified by email when the voting opens up next year.

In addition there he TSI will be holding help sessions to support groups with the new process;Wednesday 13 December at the TSI offices in Colquhoun Square between 4 and 6pm.

The second stage is to flesh out the idea into an application and the deadline for this is 22 January.  Further help sessions will be announced.
