Community Learning Services update October 2024

Adult Learning Provision Helensburgh


Managing Your Money – Brand new budgeting short course. First session will run on 14 th of
November, in Helensburgh Library, 10 – 12. This session will run regularly throughout the year in
various locations.


Adult Literacy and Numeracy support – A range of support for adults requiring help with reading,
writing or numbers, including the innovative Citizen Literacy website. Referrals to
Karen.fyfe@liveargyll.co.uk


National Databank – Vodafone and O2 sim cards available with call, texts and data for up to 6
months. Available by arrangement with Caroline Whitson.

New Device Lending Service – Now available - Laptops and tablet devices are available, with or
without mobile data, for adults aged 18 and over who have been referred by a partner agency.
Lending period will be between 3 and 6 months. Regular attendance at The Learning Café
(Helensburgh Library) is required as part of the lending agreement, as is registering with Learn My
Way online learning. Referrals can be made directly to Caroline Whitson.

Room For You – New partnership programme with Jean’s bothy, Helensburgh Community Hub and A
& B Community Development. Quiet reading and reflection spaces in Helensburgh Library, Jean’s
Bothy and the Community Hub.

Learning Café – Learning and employability drop in service every Wednesday afternoon in
Helensburgh Library, 1 -2.30. Tea/coffee/rolls/soup/biscuits.

Conversation Café – General conversation with tea/coffee/biscuits in Helensburgh Library every
Thursday morning 10:15 – 11:15.

Get IT Started – Basic IT course. Tuesday afternoons in Helensburgh Library for 6 weeks. New
sessions starting January 2025

Jean’s Bothy – Digital Drop in Service – for existing and new Bothy members. Every second Tuesday
in Jean’s Bothy 11 – 1.

Digital Boost – Advanced IT Support group for learners who have previously attended Get IT Started.
Every Wednesday in Helensburgh Library 10 – 12.

Health Issues in the Community (HIIC) – New cohort with Jean’s Bothy has commenced and will run
until March 2025.
