  • The whole work is expected to be completed by 17th August 2018, and the site cabins will be removed by that date. 
  • The grass area by the Rhu Marina entrance and part of the grass verge along the Gareloch Road has been seeded with grass seed It is expected it to take until September 2018 for the area to fully regrow. SW will to monitor the growth.
  • There is some minor work to  finalise  to the tank located in the bus stop area. Safety grills have to be welded to the access covers and therefore it may be neccessary to close the bus stop for one day.

 

07 August 2018 Policy for Public Hearings

When a controversial planning application is being considered, the PPSLC may recommend that a Public Hearing is held. 

In Rhu and Shandon  such Hearings have been held when plans were submitted for the Marina, Adenconnel Playing Fields, The Lochside Care Home, and the Turbines at Baldernock.

 The criteria which the PPSLC use for determining whether a Hearing is held are contained in Policy for Public Hearings.

Argyll and Bute have revised their policy for dealing with Japanese knotweed and other invasive species.

Remember that  you can report outbreaks in Rhu and Shandon to Peter Knox or Jean Cook. We undertake to make sure that Landowners are aware of their responsibilities and the danger of alowing  knotweed to florish on their land.

                     Saturday 9th June

                      20th Anniversary Event                    

                   Royal Northern  Yacht Club Rhu

                                 A fun day for all.

Entry Fee £1


12.00 : Procession from  Rhu Marina to Yacht Club led by Helensburgh Clan         Colquhoun Pipe Band

12.30: Official Opening by Murdo McLeod (who played for Dumbarton, Celtic, Hibs, Borussia Dormund and Scotland) 

Events include:

  • The ever popular (soon to be the Scottish Crufts) dog show
  •  range of stalls outside will offer various gifts and products as well as food and drink.
  • Cadonna’s Yankee Flyer,
  • various boats and vehicles (with sirens)
  • assault course, bungee run, crockery smash and bouncy castle keep the more energetic entertained.
  • Tartan Harmony will be singing in the beer tent along with a few backing singers.
  • Mminiature zoo with creepy crawlies, a kid zone, photo booth, jumble and tearoom offering local delicacies.
  •  birds of prey show; Clann an Drumma (drummers), Helensburgh Clan Colquhoun Pipe Band, dancing; family races; Best in Show 
  • Finishes with the tug of war (teams of 6 wanted).

The orgabisers would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone that has supported our gala over the years. We hope the sun shines and we attract as many people of all ages in the area to come along and have a fun family day.
